  • Meeting Format: Hybrid (In-person + Zoom)
  • Word of the Evening: Cheer
  • Number of Guests: 1

📝 Meeting Summary

Meeting #391 had a lighthearted, laughter-filled energy from start to finish, with members swapping travel stories, Halloween memories, and one unforgettable costume confession during Table Topics. Our guest joined for a second time this week, quietly taking in just how natural it felt to watch members think on their feet.

🎉 Opening & Recent Updates

Recent updates brought the room together over food and family: one member described the surreal experience of a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant where no sushi was actually flowing on the belt — “we’re too busy to take your order,” the tablet apparently said. Another member shared a reunion story from a trip back to Osaka, reconnecting with 30 old colleagues after 20 years and getting teased in classic Kansai directness about the hat he was wearing.

🗣 Table Topics Session

This round’s theme leaned into the season — Halloween costumes, office dress-up, and how members would spend a Black Friday windfall. The standout answer came from a member asked what “professional” Halloween costume they’d wear to the office: he described dressing up as a mascot for his company’s biggest client at a previous job, complete with pretend credit-card sales pitches to coworkers — a costume idea built entirely from a true work story, and the kind of spontaneous, funny detail that only comes out when you’re speaking without a script.

🎙 Prepared Speech Session

TM W.O. opened the prepared speech session with “2027.10.03“, a speech built around writing with clear purpose, working through how to shape a well-organized talk around any topic.

TM H.Sho. followed with “To Make My 40s Fullfilling“, exploring communication style through personal stories and the people who shaped it.

🔍 Evaluation & Feedback

TM H.S. gave feedback on TM W.O.’s speech, keeping the comments simple and clear. TM L.T. gave feedback on TM H.S.’s speech, provide the good part so far and next action advise. The General Evaluator praised this approach — straightforward and easy to act on, exactly the kind of feedback that makes the next attempt easier.

🏆 Awards

  • 🏅 Best Table Topics Speaker: TM T.K. and TM L.T.

  • 🏅 Best Prepared Speaker: TM W.O.

  • 🏅 Best Evaluator: TM L.T. and TM H.S.
