Meeting Summary
Meeting #385 marked a special milestone — the very first meeting under our newly elected president and officer team! With World Cup fever sweeping the room, a fresh twist on Table Topics, and two heartfelt prepared speeches, the evening was packed with energy, laughter, and genuine connection.
Opening & Recent Updates
The ice-breaking round turned into an impromptu World Cup fan club, with members trading stories of setting 2am and 5:30am alarms to catch Japan’s matches (Guinness in hand before work, in one case!). But the World Cup wasn’t the only story of the night — one member recounted the small drama of a pet stag beetle making a break for freedom (and getting recaptured with a little help from an AI chatbot’s advice), while another shared the quiet joy of a newly adopted houseplant. The mix of high-energy sports talk and everyday moments set a warm, easygoing tone right from the start.
Table Topics Session
Topic Master:TM W.M. | Theme: Graph-interpretation exercise
Table Topics Master TM W.M. brought a brand-new format to the floor: instead of the usual open-ended prompts, each speaker was shown a graph on the spot — workplace happiness by day of the week, café customer trends, even Japan’s consumption tax history — and had to interpret and explain it in real time.
It was a genuinely fresh challenge, and one response stood out: a speaker confidently walked us through a graph on Japan’s rising number of foreign visitors, weaving in observations about the tourism boom with the kind of clear, structured delivery you’d want in a real business meeting. Reading a graph out loud and turning it into a compelling story on the spot — that’s exactly the kind of pressure-tested practice this club is built around.
Prepared Speech Session
Speaker#1: TM T.K. | Title: “What Minecraft Taught Me About Communication” | Project:*Motivational Strategies
TM T.K. opened with “What Minecraft Taught Me About Communication” — a warm, funny take on how a broken capsule-toy machine taught him more about listening than any textbook could. His closing line stuck with the room: “It is about finding the right starting point for the person in front of you.”
Speaker#2: TM A.M. | Title: “To Extract or Not to Extract” | Project:*Presentation Mastery
TM A.M. followed with “Wisdom Teeth: To Extract or Not to Extract” — a well-researched, engaging dive into a decision many of us will face someday, complete with a live audience poll that got everyone thinking about their own choices.
Evaluation & Feedback
TM L.T. delivered a sharp, well-structured evaluation of the Minecraft speech, highlighting how the opening and closing lines worked together to reinforce a single, clear message. TM H.S. evaluated the Wisdom Teeth speech and doubled up as Grammarian for the night, offering real-example feedback on common patterns like tense consistency and article usage — the kind of specific, constructive coaching that makes practicing here so valuable.
Our General Evaluator, TM H.I., took on the role for the first time and gave a thoughtful, detailed recap of the entire evening — a great reminder that everyone here is growing, one meeting at a time.

Ever have the right words in your head, but freeze the moment you need to say them out loud — especially in English? That gap between knowing and saying is exactly what Visionaries Toastmasters Club helps you close.
We’re a small, supportive community of business professionals in our 30s and 40s, practicing real-world English speaking — impromptu talks, prepared speeches, and honest peer feedback — in a space built for growth, not judgment.
Our next meeting is July 18, 2026 (Saturday) — online via Zoom. Guests are welcome to join free of charge for up to three meetings.
Come see what it feels like to speak with confidence. We’d love to have you!
