Meeting Summary
Meeting #384 marked the final session of the current club term — and what a way to close it out! Ten members gathered online to share laughs, stretch their imaginations, and witness the installation of a new officer team. The energy was warm, reflective, and full of forward momentum (our Word of the Evening!).
Opening & Recent Updates
The ice-break session gave every member a moment to share recent news — and the range was delightful. One member shared how they stumbled upon a hidden gem of a sake bar with an old junior high school friend, spending four hours and coming away with a bill of under ¥5,000 each. Another arrived fresh from a live music bar where guests could sing with a live band — piano, contrabass, and saxophone — and took the mic to perform in front of strangers. A third was still running on karaoke fumes after a 10-hour marathon session the night before, but showed up determined to contribute. The theme? Life is short, so make it memorable.
Table Topics Session
Topic Master:TM L.T. | Theme: Imagination
This session challenged members to tap into their creative side with thought-provoking “what if” scenarios. Questions ranged from “If you found a time machine that works only once, which era would you visit?” to “If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be?”
One standout response came from a member who said they’d choose the ability to **remember everything** — every English word they’d ever studied, every person they’d ever met. “It would broaden my career, and I could remember every single person who has touched my life.” A simple but quietly moving answer that resonated with everyone on the call.
Another member imagined their three wishes from Aladdin’s lamp: a bit more height, financial freedom — and then paused to wrestle with eternal life. “If I could never die… everyone around me would eventually be gone. So it’s still sad.” The room (screen?) erupted in laughter and nodding faces.
The theme of imagination isn’t just fun — it’s exactly the kind of thinking-on-your-feet practice that builds real impromptu speaking ability.
Prepared Speech Session
Speaker: TM A.M. | Title: “To Extract or Not to Extract” | Project:*Presentation Mastery
TM A.M. delivered a well-structured and surprisingly relatable talk on wisdom teeth. With slides, clear explanations of the three growth patterns, and a closing line — “Keep your teeth healthy and live happily!” — the speech was informative, engaging, and even drew a few confessions from members who had been avoiding the dentist. The 6-minute speech hit every beat of effective presentation craft.
Evaluation & Feedback
TM H.S. provided feedback on TM A.M.’s speech, highlighting the clear structure, the clever use of audience interaction (asking who still had wisdom teeth), and the memorable closing phrase. The evaluation balanced specific praise with actionable suggestions — a model of the kind of warm, peer-driven feedback Visionaries does best.
The General Evaluator closed the session with an overall assessment of the meeting’s momentum (pun intended), commending the Table Topics session in particular for sparking genuine imagination across the group.
