📝 Meeting Summary

Halloween edition! While we skipped the costumes this time, our meeting brought together members for an engaging evening of impromptu speaking and prepared speeches. The session showcased how our club continues to be a supportive space where business professionals challenge themselves to communicate more clearly and confidently in English, with thoughtful feedback helping everyone grow.

🎉 Opening & Recent Updates

TM S. welcomed everyone and shared highlights from the past two weeks. Members enjoyed diverse experiences—from camping trips in Nagatoro with old friends to exploring Tokyo DisneySea as a couple for the first time in 20 years! TM A. shared her unique adventure visiting remote hot springs, including one with a surprisingly beautiful sapphire blue color for just 150 yen. TM A. (another member) took her daughter to the Ramen Museum in Yokohama, enjoying the night view from the air cabin. TM T. faced a challenging work situation with an unrealistic client request of 19 projects for just two team members. TM K. attended the Yokohama Mushroom Festival and showcased his 3D-printed mushroom pencil holders. TM I. enjoyed Yamagata beef and climbed 1,000 stone steps at Yamadera, hoping to clear away earthly desires. TM L. visited the Osaka Expo 2025 with family, and TM M. discussed trying to gain 30 kilograms through training programs!

🗣 Table Topics Session

Table Topics Master: TM S.

Tonight’s Table Topics took an exciting new format—mini debates! Speakers were challenged to take a position on controversial statements and defend their views with passion and logic. This fresh approach pushed everyone to think critically and articulate their opinions clearly.

TM I. tackled whether money can buy happiness, thoughtfully arguing that while money is important, genuine relationships and daily connections create real happiness—something money cannot purchase. His reflection on prioritizing human connections over economic concerns resonated with the room and reminded us all what truly matters in life.

🎙 Prepared Speech Session

1st Speaker: “How I Communicate” – TM M.

TM M. delivered an insightful speech exploring his communication style as a supportive communicator. Drawing from his experience organizing events, he outlined three essential principles: showing kindness while being honest when necessary, listening actively to understand feelings beyond words, and finding balance between speaking and listening. His authentic approach to communication—acknowledging he’s not the type to take the lead but excels at creating supportive environments—gave us valuable perspective on how different communication styles contribute to successful interactions.

2nd Speaker: “The First Day” – TM L.

TM L. took us on an emotional journey through her first experiences in Japan, from discovering the delicious katsudon to experiencing Japan’s four seasons for the first time. Her speech built to a powerful moment at the Osaka Expo 2025, where she witnessed Italian musicians and Japanese performers sharing the same space simultaneously. This experience made her realize that regardless of where we come from, we’re all equal citizens of this planet, sharing the same basic human experiences. Her message about unity and belonging resonated deeply with everyone present.
